이스라엘 정착민들이 Beit ummar 근처의 21그루의 포도나무를 베다 _ 2011년 6월 5일

 

 On June 1, settlers cut down 21 grape trees in a Palestinian farmer’s vineyards close to the Bet’Ayn Settlement near Beit Ummar.  The farmers said the destruction happened during the night.  The field is some distance from the village;  therefore, it cannot be monitored every hour.  These settlers from Bet’Ayn, according to the people of the village, have a reputation of being aggressive toward the farmers in the area.

 

 6월 1일, 정착민들이 beit ummar 마을 근처에 위치한 bet’ayn정착촌 근교의 팔레스타인 농부들의 포도밭에서 61그루의 포도나무를 베었다. 농부들은 그들이 밤중에 그 일을 저질렀다고 말했다. 그 땅은 마을에서 조금 떨어져있다. 그래서, 사람들이 그 땅을 항상 감시하기는 힘든 실정이다. Bet’ayn에서 온 정착민들은 마을 사람들에 따르면 근처에 사는 농부들에 대한 공격적인 태도로 악명이 높다고 한다.

 

 Abu Mohammed (Issa), also a farmer of Beit Ummar, works for the farmers’ safety.  He said there are four settlements surrounding Beit Ummar, and it has become progressively more difficult for the farmers to do the necessary farm preparations, cultivation, and harvesting of the crops in their fields with the settlers’ increased activity.

 Abu mohammed 역시 농부들의 안전을 위해 일하는 beit ummar의 농부이다. 그는 beit ummar를 둘러싼 지역에 4개의 정착촌이 있으며 그들의 땅을 일구기 위해 필요한 농경준비, 경작, 추수를 그들의 땅에서 하는 것이 정착민들의 계속 늘어나는 방해로 점점 더 어려워지고 있다고 이야기한다.

 

  Now Bet’Ayn is expanding and creeping closer to the Palestinian village, making any work in the fields still more precarious. 

 

이제 bet’ayn은 땅에서 하는 모든 일들을 불안하게 만들며 팔레스타인 마을을 향해 점차 세력을 넓히며 스멀스멀 다가오고 있다.

 

 Ta’ayush, an Israeli Peace Activist group, also had four members at this scene.  One member spoke about the clever, sure, easy ways that Israel has historically adopted to take more and more Palestinian land and claim it all as state land:

이스라엘 평화 활동가 그룹의 Ta’ayush는 4명의 회원들과 함께 일한다. 한 회원은 이스라엘이 역사적으로 더 많은 팔레스타인 땅을 차지하기 위해 적용해 온 현명하고, 확실하고, 쉬운 방법에 대해 이야기한다.

 

1. Confiscate the grazing land by instituting the law that if the land is not worked for 3 years, it automatically becomes state land.

 ‘땅이 3년간 경작되지 않으면 그것은 자동적으로 정부의 공적 땅으로 귀속된다’라는 법률을 만들어 가축들이 풀을 뜯어먹는 용도의 땅을 압류하라.

 

1. Declare that all the mountains are state land, for security purposes.  The valleys maybe cultivated.

안보상의 이유로, 모든 산이 공적 땅으로 귀속된다고 선포하라. 계곡들은 경작될 수 있다.

 

1. The state lands can be declared public lands also.  These public lands can then be allotted to groups who want to use them according to the wishes of the state, that is for settlement purposes.  (Only one parcel of land since 1967 has been allotted to the Palestinians.)

국가의 땅은 공적 땅으로 명시될 수 있다. 이러한 공적 땅은 이스라엘인들의 정착, 이주라는 이스라엘 정부의 목적대로 땅을 이용할 사람들에게 다시 분배될 수 있다. (1967년 이래로 단 한 구획의 땅 만이 팔레스타인 사람들을 위해 분배되었다.)

 

Another Israeli activist spoke about the tremendous need she sees for Americans to take action—not only for the sake of the Palestinians but for the Israeli people as well.  “The Israelis are blind,” she said. “For the Americans to keep supporting Israel with $11,000,000/day to keep the settlements and the military strong here, it is like giving drugs to your girlfriend.  It’s like putting a drunk person behind the wheel.  You must work with your government. It is killing us.”

 

다른 이스라엘 활동가는 미국이 팔레스타인 사람들 뿐만이 아니라 이스라엘 사람들을 위해서도 행동을 할 필요성에 대해 이야기 한다. “이스라엘 사람들은 눈이 멀었다.”라고 그녀는 이야기한다. “미국 사람들이 이스라엘 정착민들과 군인들이 이 지역에서 계속 세력을 유지하도록 하기 위해 하루에 $11,000,000원을 지원하는데 그것은 여자친구에게 마약을 주는 것과 같다. 이것은 술에 취한 사람을 바퀴 뒤에 두는 것과 같다. 정부와 함께 나서야 한다. 이것은 결국 우리를 죽이는 길이다.”
