한.중.일 참여하신 YMCA 형제 자매 여러분 안녕하십니까?
한중일 평화포럼, 말 그대로 참 감사하고 기쁜 일입니다.
이 세상에서 살아가면서 같은 생각, 같은 지향을 가지신 분들과 교제하며 살아간다는 것은 매우 행복한 일입니다. 성경에서 말씀의 '형제가 연합하여 동거함이 어찌 그리 선하고 아름다운지요' 라는 말씀이 바로 이것이 아닌가 생각됩니다. 단체끼리도 마찬가지입니다. 만나서 노고를 위로하고 서로 격려를 주고받는다면 서로에게 큰 유익이 되고 큰 힘이 될 것입니다.
오늘은 하나님 안에서 우리가 YMCA 평화 포럼으로 모였습니다. YMCA는 운동단체이고 기독교 단체입니다. 여러분들이 이미 다 아는 사실이고 더구나 훌륭하신 분들 앞이라 매우 외람 된 말씀이지만 ‘신앙이란 긍극적인 것에 대한 절대 신념체계' 라고 합니다. 즉, 신앙은 지역, 인종과 이념 등 모든 가치를 뛰어 넘는 일입니다. 우리의 운동과 우리 단체의 일은 이러한 신앙이라는 궁극적인 가치에 근거하고 있고 그 위에 바탕을 두고 있습니다. 이 신앙적 믿음은 우리의 존재를 변화시키는 것이고, 그 믿음의 행위는 믿는 자들의 존재 양식이고도 합니다. 결국 기독교 단체로써의 YMCA 운동은 우리 믿는 자들의 존재양식인 것입니다.
우리의 운동은 우리가 믿는 신앙을 고백하는 과정이고 방식입니다. 따라서 우리의 운동이념인 정의, 평화, 평등, 자유 등은 궁극적 가치인 신앙에 포괄되는 개념이자 하위개념이고 종속적인 것입니다. 신앙 아래에 운동이념을 놓아야지 운동을 위해서 신앙이 이용될 수는 없는 일입니다. 다시 말씀드리지만 신앙은 모든 것의 절대궁극이기 때문입니다. 그러므로 우리는 신앙 안에서 한 형제, 자매입니다. 그러나 이런 이유가 우리 운동의 성실성이나 치열함을 약화시키는 이유가 되어서는 안 됩니다. 결코 그럴 수 없습니다. 사실은 그 정 반대입니다 YMCA 운동의 신앙고백적 방식만이 우리가 추구하는 이념의 창조 역량을 극대화 시킬 수 있는 방법입니다. 진실로, 진실로 우리 YMCA 운동의 진정성은 오직 이런 신앙고백적 방식에 의해서만 가능한 일입니다. 그 외의 방법은 없습니다. 혹시 있다면 그것은 이미 YMCA 운동이 아닌 것입니다.
우리가 오늘 모여서 이루려는 것은 세상의 물리적인, 정치적인 평화만이 아니라 하나님께서 주시는 궁극적인 모든 평화이기 때문입니다. 세상에도 평화를 말하고 주장하는 모임이나 단체는 많이 있지만 이런 의미에서 오늘의 YMCA 한중일 평화포럼은 특별히 다른 큰 뜻이 있습니다. 특히 문명사적으로 지금은 바야흐로 세계 역사의 중심 축이 동아시아로 움직이고 있는 시대입니다. 우리들은 하나님께서 인간 역사를 주관하고 계심을 믿습니다. 또한 동아시아의 평화는 세계평화에 직결 되어 있습니다. 하나님께서는 동아시아를 포함한 세계 만방 모든 백성들의 평안과 안녕을 원하고 계십니다.
아무쪼록 오늘 이 포럼이 동아시아의 한반도라는 작은 지역에서 소수로 진행 되고 있지만, 결국 그 끝은 이 지역을 포함한 전 지구촌의 방방곡곡에 하나님의 평화가 선포 되고 성취되는, 아름다운 열매로 확대되어 맺히기를 간구드립니다. 또한 그러할 것을 믿습니다.

Dear brothers and sisters from YMCA Korea, China and Japan.
I appreciate for your participation and I am thank for ‘the Korea-China-Japan Peace Forum’.
It is very happy to live with those who have the same thoughts and same orientations in this world. I think that this is the same thing which the Bible says, brother' s living together in unity is so good and beautiful. The same is true for organizations. If you meet and encourage each other and give encouragement to each other, it will be a great benefit and great power to each other.
Today we gathered at the YMCA Peace Forum in God . The YMCA is a movement organization and a Christian organization. It is a fact that you already know and it is called 'faith is the absolute belief system about the ultimate thing'. In other words, faith goes beyond all values, including the region, race and ideology etc. Our work are based on the ultimate value of this faith. This belief is to change our beings, and the act of faith is the form of existence of believers. In the end, the YMCA movement as a Christian organization is the form of existence of these believers.
Our movement is the process and the way we confess our faith. Therefore, justice, peace, equality, and liberty, which are our movement ideals, are subordinate concepts and subordinate to the ultimate values of faith. Faith can not be used for exercise in order to put an exercise ideology under faith. Again, faith is the absolute ultimate of all things. Therefore, we are a brother and sister in faith. But this should not be a reason to weaken the integrity or fierceness of our movement. I can never do that.
The fact is that it is the opposite. The confessional method of the YMCA movement is the only way to maximize the creative capacity of our ideals. Truly, the authenticity of our YMCA movement is only possible through this confessional way of belief. There is no other way. If there is, it is not already YMCA movement. It is not only the physical and political peace of the world that we are meeting today, but because it is all the ultimate peace that God gives us.
In the world, there are many groups and organizations that speak and assert peace, but in this sense, YMCA of Korea-China-Japan peace forum today has a different meaning. Especially in the history of civilization, now is the time when the center of world history is moving to East Asia. We believe that God is in charge of human history. In addition, peace in East Asia is directly linked to world peace. God wants the peace and safety of all the peoples of the world, including East Asia. I sincerely hope that this forum is being carried out in a small area of the Korean Peninsula of East Asia today, but eventually it will be expanded into beautiful fruit, proclaiming and achieving the peace of God in every part of the world including this region. I also believe that.
