7th Korea-Japan-China YMCA Peace Forum
Congratulatory Message
Xu Xiaohong
President
National Council of YMCAs of China
Good morning, brothers and sisters from Korea YMCA, Japan YMCA, and China YMCA:
Today, with the bless of God, we meet here, thanks to the common concern of peace and joint effort in peace activities by Korea YMCA, Japan YMCA, and China YMCA. Please allow me, on behalf of NCY China, to congratulate on the opening of the 7thKorea-Japan-ChinaYMCA Peace Forum.
The World is undergoing major developments, transformation, and adjustment, but peace and development remain the call of our day. The trends of global multi-polarity, economic globalization, IT application, and cultural diversity are surging forward; countries are becoming increasingly interconnected and interdependent; and peace and development remain irreversible trends. And yet, as a world we face growing uncertainties and destabilizing factors. Global economic growth lacks energy; the gap between rich and poor continues to widen; hotspot issues arise often in some regions; and unconventional security threats like terrorism, cyber-insecurity, major infectious diseases, and climate change continue to spread. As human beings we have many common challenges to face. The future of the world is the common destiny of human beings.
Korea, Japan and China are neighbors in northeast Asia, and enjoy a long history of cultural connection and exchange. Under such background, I am very pleased to see the opening of the 7th Korea-Japan-China YMCA Peace Forum in Gwang ju city, with the joint effort sand cooperation among the three YMCAs. Peace is the mission given by God to YMCA. This is a sacred mission, as it is said in the Bible : blessed are the peace makers. As the President of NCY China, and as a volunteer leader, it is my great pleasure, and the meaning of being the President, to be able to work with all of you together for this sacred mission.
I sincerely wish the 7thKorea-Japan-China YMCA Peace Forum a great success. I also sincerely wish the Gospel of peace comes to the every corner of the world.
