 지난 2023년  12월 4일(월), 저녁 6시에 한국정교회 성 니콜라스 대성당에서 개최된 NCCK 대림절 평화기도회에서 함께 나눴던 팔레스타인 유세프 다허(세계교회협의회(WCC 예루살렘 현지 코디네이터)의 영상과 글입니다. NCCK 국제위원회의 수고로 영상과 글이 만들어졌습니다. 아래에 대림절 평화기도회 순서지를 첨부하였습니다.

안녕하세요 한국의 자매와 형제 여러분, 예루살렘에서 평화의 인사드립니다. 내일 가자지구는 일시적 휴전에 들어가게 될 것입니다. 우리는 휴전을 통해 팔레스타인과 이스라엘의 양구 지도자들이 이 전쟁이 나라와 성지, 그리고 이 땅에 살아가는 모든 사람들과 두 민족 간의 삶과 미래를 황폐화 시킬뿐 이라는 사실을 깨닫는 계기가 되기를 바라고 있습니다.

지난 10월 7일, 이스라엘사람들 1200명이 사망한 이후 가자지구와 민간인 지역, 특히 가자지구 북부에서 14000명 이상의 팔레스타인 사람들이 사망했으며 그 중 3분의 1이 이상이 어린이였으며 희생된 대부분은 여성들이었습니다. 병원과 교회 등의 지하 벙커에서 테러활동을 하고 있다는 명분으로 민간인 지역을 겨낭한 폭격이 계속되고 있습니다. 집과 건물, 재산을 잃었고 제시한 명분에 합당한 증거도 제시하지 않은 채 전쟁은 계속되고 있으며 무고한 이들이 죽어나가고 있습니다. 팔레스타인 역사상 이렇게 단 기간 동안 높은 인명 피해가 나고 집값이 폭등한 적은 없었습니다.

우리가 이 모든 참상을 겪으며 얻은 교훈은 이스라엘이 유대 민족을 위한 안전한 사회 망을 구축하는데 실패했다는 것입니다. 팔레스타인이 세워진지 75년, 우리는 인간이 민족에 따라 다르게 취급될 수 있다는 것을 묵인한 채 지나온 국제사회와 인권 규범에 큰 충격을 받았으며 결국 이는 잘못된 것이라는 것을 깨달았습니다.

이 모든 과정을 통해 우리는 서로를 열등하거나 반대로 우월하게 바라보면 평화도 안전도 보장할 수 없다는 것을 깨닫고 공동의 미래로 나아가는 길을 택해야 할 것입니다. 우리가 함께 살아가는 미래를 구상할 때 비로소 우리는 우리 삶의 자리를 나누며 번영과 안보, 평화를 누리게 될 것입니다. 이것이 오직 이 땅에서 서로를 동등하게 대하며 살아갈 수 있는 유일한 길임을 깨닫고 모든 이들의 피난처가 되는 이 곳 우리의 고향에서 더불어 살아갈 수 있기를 다시한번 깊이 소망하고 있습니다.

특히 이 시간을 빌어 한국의 에큐메니칼 공동체가 팔레스타인의 보건과 인도주의적 지원 분야에 관심을 가지고 지원해주신 것에 다시 한번 깊이 감사드립니다. 이번 전쟁이 발생하기 전부터 가자지구의 기독인은 반복되는 점령과 공습으로 이미 1천 명 정도로 줄어있는 상태였습니다. 그러나 이제는 그 절반이상이 언제든 이곳을 떠날 수 있는 상황에 이르렀습니다. 이 전쟁으로 흘리는 모든 피가 헛된 것이 아니라 더 나은 미래를 위한 것이라는 희망을 주지 못한다면, 남아있는 이들은 자녀들의 안전한 삶과 번영에 대한 예측을 할 수 없기 때문에 떠날 수밖에 없을 것입니다.

다시 한번 한국 에큐메니칼 공동체의 기도와 관심, 지원에 깊이 감사드리며 여러분의 삶에 평화가 가득하시기를 예루살렘에서 인사드렸습니다. 감사합니다.

Witness 1. From an Advent Prayer for Peace in Palestine 

Yusef Daher(Coordinator of the WCC office in Jerusalem)

Good morning, brothers and sisters from Jerusalem we greet you with peace and with hope. Tomorrow there will be a pause of this war on Gaza. We are hopeful that this pause will be an opportunity for both leaderships to realize that this war will only devastate the people and the life and the future of both peoples in this country, in this land in the Holyland.

After 7th of October, where 1200 Israelis were killed, more than 14,000 Palestinians were also killedin Gaza and the civilian areas, especially in the north region of the strip, where more than one third of them are children many are women most have lost their houses, their premises, their properties, bombardment targeted hospitals, churches, and civilian areas under the claim that there are terrorist activities or bunkers or beneath the Earth commands all of which did not really come with any clear evidence for the public.

It is a high cost of lives, high cost of homesand this has never happened in the history of the Palestinian people or the Israelis.The lessons learned after all this devastation until now is that for the Israelis, they failed to have a secure homeland for the Jewish nation. After 75 years of establishing a state for the Palestinians, we were struck and shocked by the international community and the human rights that humans might be considered differently from one people to another which is wrong.

From all these lessons, we shall come out looking into a future where we realize that there will be no peace and no security if we treat each other with inferiority or superiority. So in other words, when we look to the future, I hope that both people will realize that the only way is to live together as equals on this land shared the land, shared the prosperity, shared the security and shared the peace together so that we prosper as peoples of God on this land in our homeswhere any refuge can be safe and home.

Again, thanking all the Korean churches for their support, especially in the health sector, in the humanitarian sector and especially in Gaza, where your contributions are very much appreciated by the local churches here Christians in Gaza have dropped to 1000 before the war because of the long siege on Gaza. But now we can see that almost half of them would leave at any instant.

They have the opportunity to leavebecause they don't see a security they don't see a secured life for their children or prosperity of a future unless we give them hope that this war and all this blood was not split for nothing but was split in order for a better future for the generations to come.
